Meet Joe Straka
Joe Straka (his name means “magpie” in Czech), has been throwing and designing pottery for nearly 40 years. He trained under master potters to fine-tune his skills, and has taught pottery classes and workshops.
“Pottery is my passion, and after years of being in shows and galleries I had the chance to open my own shop, in a place of great natural beauty.
“Because I’m located on a dramatic hillside overlooking the Potomac and Shenandoah River convergence, I’m inspired every day by the incredible views I can see right from my wheel as I throw.”
